Easter fun with the National Trust in Kent and East Sussex

Get ready to spring into action, it’s time for an Easter adventure at National Trust places in and around Kent.

 

Take part in family-friendly activities and trails, make your own Easter discoveries and collect your chocolate egg at the end.

 

All trails cost £3 per person, including a chocolate egg prize*.

 

Early Easter fun – get a head start on Easter this year with trails and activities from Saturday 23 March at selected local National Trust places. Please check websites before visiting.

 

Ightham Mote

20 March to 7 April, 10am to 4pm

Rabbits are loose at Ightham Mote!

Join them on a Tudor themed adventure, complete ten activities and claim your chocolate egg as a reward.


From hopping like a bunny to spotting the odd egg out there’s so many fun things to do at Ightham Mote this Easter.

 

Scotney Castle

23 March to 7 April, 10am to 4pm

Discover giant eggs and join in egg-themed games and activities

 

Bateman’s

23 March to 14 April, 10am to 4pm

Jump into a world of adventure at Bateman’s with a Jungle Book twist. Play games and get creative with the help of characters from Rudyard Kipling’s beloved story.

 

On 6 & 7 April, drop in for storytelling in the magical setting of Rudyard Kipling’s very own garden. Running throughout the day for 10 to 20 minutes, suitable for young children. Free with admission.

 

Sissinghurst Castle Garden

23 March to 1 April, 10am to 4pm

Spring into action at Sissinghurst Castle Garden with our Easter trail. Play traditional games with the whole family and discover our woodland friends around the estate.

 

Smallhythe Place

24 March to 2 April, open Wednesdays to Sundays, 11am to 4pm.

Take centre stage at Smallhythe Place with our Easter trail. Jump into action with lawn games and seasonal activities with a theatrical twist.

 

Lamb House

24 March to 2 April, open Fridays to Tuesdays, 11am to 4pm.

Leap into action and find all the lambs that have escaped into the garden at Lamb House. Play games and solve challenges on our Easter trail to discover the location of each lamb!

 

From the Easter Bank Holiday, choose from more places nearby for family adventures. Trails run for the whole of the Easter school holidays. Please check websites before visiting.

 

Chartwell

29 March to 14 April, 10am to 4pm

Discover the wonders of spring colour along the Easter trail route. Silk flags designed by local community groups will bring bursts of brightness to the grounds.

 

Drop in for a free family workshop on Tuesday 2 April to celebrate the anniversary of Clementine Churchill's birthday. Make an orange blossom coronet like the one Clemmie wore on her wedding day.

 

Bodiam Castle

29 March to 14 April, 10am to 4pm

Have a roaring time at Bodiam Castle this spring with a dragon eggs-travaganza. Awaken your imagination as you discover the dragons at the castle. Join in with dragon egg and spoon races, play the dragon egg coconut shy, go on a dragon egg hunt and become a dragon trainer.

 

There will also be crafts for families on selected dates, from £3 plus admission. Plus storytelling on selected weekend days. Check website for details.

 

Emmetts Garden

29 March to 14 April, 10am to 4pm

Emmetts’ Easter fete is back by popular demand. Join us for family fun on the meadow and in the Wild Play Area. From hook-a-duck to candy floss and other 60s-inspired games and stalls, celebrate 60 years since Emmetts Garden was left to the National Trust.

 

Knole

29 March to 14 April, 10am to 5pm. Pre-book to guarantee entry.

Let off steam on the active Easter trail, with family and playground-style games.

 

Book onto a children's craft workshop during the Easter holidays, including painting a ceramic bird house or herb planter. Booking essential.

 

On Friday 12 April, explore Lord Sackville's private garden with a special children’s trail. Booking essential. Children's ticket available (ages 5-17, under 5s free).

 

South Foreland Lighthouse on the White Cliffs of Dover

29 March to 14 April, 11am to 4pm

Become a scientist for the day with fun, interactive activities with an Easter twist. Family trail for all ages to explore and enjoy.

 

Choose from either a chocolate egg* or a vegan and Free From chocolate egg.
