Festive Menu at Rocksalt, Folkestone


We visited Rocksalt in Folkestone Harbour this week to sample their new Festive Set Menu, which is available at set times until Christmas Eve lunch. The new Festive Set Menu is now available, priced from £30.95 per person for two courses and £35.95 for three.


You can choose from Creamed Celeriac & Cox Apple Soup, Smoked Haddock Fishcake Poached Egg, or Ham Hock & Pistachio Ballotine as a starter course. We loved the smoked haddock fishcake with perfectly poached egg, and of course, we had to try a fish dish whilst at Rocksalt.


If you want to opt for a Christmas classic, main courses include stuffed breast of Norfolk Turkey Pigs with pigs in blankets, Rye Bay Cod, or our personal favourite, the truffled delicia pumpkin risotto with goats curd and crispy sage, which is the perfect Winter warming dish. Desserts include Christmas pudding Eton mess, with brandy vanilla whipped cream; Im not a lover of Christmas pudding, but this boozy Eton mess version was definitely an exception. If you fancy something sweeter, they have a dark chocolate mousse with fudge sauce and honeycomb on the menu or the spiced Bramley Apple and pear crumble pie with cinnamon ice cream, which was also fantastic.


The restaurant is dressed and ready for Christmas and even has a Christmas tree on the terrace. It is the perfect venue for lunch before a walk down the harbour arm, which was looking particularly festive this year, complete with a vintage carousel.

For those diners not quite ready for a festive themed meal, there's also the option to choose from the new seasonal menu created by Executive Chef Marcin Szelag and Head Chef Akos Mate.
